About the Journal
West African Journal of Orthodontics was conceived in October 2011 during the annual conference of the Nigerian Association of Orthodontists and the first edition came on stream in June 2012. It was launched into circulation in October 2012 and since then; the Journal has grown in publication and circulation.
The Journal has a wide circulation in the sub-Saharan Africa, publishing papers from throughout the world. The official journal of Orthodontic Associations in the West African Sub-Region, it is “Dentistry’s First Specialty Journal in the Sub-Saharan Africa. It aims to provide a unique opportunity for clinicians/oral health researchers both regional and international to disseminate their research findings as it relates to the practice of orthodontics, thereby advancing the art and science of the specialty of orthodontics worldwide focusing on evidence based orthodontic care.
Placing an emphasis on publishing high- quality, evidence-based, clinically orientated or clinically relevant original research papers, clinical case reports and reviews of the orthodontic literature, editorials, book reviews, correspondence and other features that will stimulate interest in innovative and contemporary orthodontic care to the orthodontic community, the Journal therefore particularly welcomes reports on prospective research into different treatment techniques including systematic reviews, meta-analyses and studies.
