Abstract

the purpose of this article is to bring into Thistorical perspective the contributions of Dr Simisola Olayemi Onibuwe Johnson (Figure 1)1, one of the notable contributors to the development
of dentistry in Nigeria. Dr. Johnson (later Chief) but popularly known simply as 'Simi Johnson' was born in Lagos State, Nigeria. She had her secondary education a t t h e C h u r c h
Missionary Society ( C M S ) G i r l s Secondary School, L a g o s b e f o r e proceeding overseas t o a t t e n d t h e Sunderland Technical College, England and the University of Durham, UK from 1954 to 1957 where she qualified as a dentist.
