Management of Anterior Open Bite with theExtraction of a Supplemental Lateral Incisor
Abstract
This case report presents the successful treatment of a patient with an anterior open bite and supplemental lateral incisor. A 10-year old female, with chief complaint of disliking the look of her teeth, presented in our clinic. She had an Angle class I malocclusion on skeletal pattern I, an anterior open bite with occlusal contacts only in the premolar and molar areas and a supplemental lateral incisor. The malocclusion was treated with extraction of the supplemental lateral, a fixed tongue rake and fixed edgewise appliance. A functional and aesthetic occlusion was achieved at the completion of treatment.
